ON THE ISLAND:

FISHING: Vechell's Resort can put you in the heart of all that Drummond Island and the Eastern U.P. has to offer.  Of course one of the main reasons to come to Drummond Island is for the fishing.  Walleye, Perch, Salmon, Cisco, Northern Pike and many other varieties abound in these waters.  Fish from shore or hop in your boat and head out.  One favorite technique is to troll up wind and then drift down wind.  Keep both hands on the pole because you never know when a fish may strike!

GOLF: Drummond Island has 2 golf courses.  The Drummond Island Golf Course is an easy layout for golfers of any ability.  It also features something that no other golf course can boast of; a runway!  As an added treat you will also be able to see an occasional airplane take off or land right in the middle of the course!  The featured golf course of Drummond Island is "The Rock".  It is one of the toughest courses in the state when played from the back tees.  Wild life meanders throughout this 18 hole championship course.  Remember, deer do have the right of way here.  Click on the link for tee times and other details.

OFF-ROADING: Drummond Island has some of the roughest, toughest, winding, muddy, demanding two trackin' loggin' roads and fire trails that you can find anywhere!  It's one of the main reasons that they hold a "Jeep Jamboree" there in June.  Wear your seat belt!  See the island in your 4x4, Dirt Bike, Quad Runner, Mountain Bike or simply hike parts of the island.  A nice place to hike are the Maxton Plains just a short drive or boat ride from Vechell's.

BOATING: Many customers bring their own boat so that they can water ski or fish in the miles of wide open water.  A nice speed boat can extend the range of your boating fun too.  Customers have taken the 20 mile trip from Vechell's to Thessalon or St. Josephs Island, Canada.  Drummond Island itself has over 180 miles of coastline to cruise.  Their's still more!  Within the island are over 40 lakes and streams to explore in a kayak or canoe.  Kayaks & canoes are available for rent on the island or bring your own.
